Project: Empowering Women in Local Communities of Gvozd, Dvor and Vojnić

The project goal is to strengthen local initiatives trough providing technical support and education in concrete projects, and in that way to work on improving the position of woman and to contribute to reintegration of population in war -torn communities. The project has begun in 2002 and continues in 2003.

We work on three projects jointly with women from three initiatives.

With Woman's Group Vojnić we work on establishing and equipping Multipurpose Open Centre; with Women's Club Dvor we work on starting and organising Internet Centre, with various activities for the community; with Women's Initiative Gvozd we work on economical empowerment, building business plan and starting curtain - sewing project.

On April 26th 2004, Women's Group Vojnić- WGV and CESI organized an Opening ceremony of MULTIPURPOSE OPEN CENTER – MOC. MOC is a result of two years project and was initiated by Women's group Vojnić and was implemented together with CESI. Our role in project implementation was to give continuous technical support and educational trainings to the members of project staff of WGV. The main purpose of MOC is to secure an adequate and arranged open place for organized activities of children and youth from Vojnić. This Center will also be opened for all citizens living in local community, who want to spend their free time there. It will contribute to development of civil society and democratisation of local community. Besides all activities for children and youth, MOC will be a place where public lectures, campaigns and all other cultural and educational happenings can be organised.

For that purpose it will be open for all local NGOs, cultural organisations and individuals…etc.

50 volunteers were included in building and cleaning of MOC and about 250.000 Kn were spent, which were secured by USAID/Academy for Educational and Mercy Corps, Cooperating Netherlands Foundations, Catholic Relief Service and local government provided building site for MOC.
