Million of signatures for REKOM
On April 26 in all regions of ex SFRJ (Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia) started the collection of million signatures for the support of foundation of independent international regional commission, REKOM. The Commission shall be in charge to establish the facts of all war victims from 1991 to 2001 on the territory of former Yugoslavia, as well as serious violation of human rights at the time of, after or in connection with these wars. REKOM's Proposal of Statute was adopted this year by the Fourth Assembly of the Coalition for REKOM, whose member is also CESI.
The collection of signatures for support is organised by Youth Initiative for human rights with help of dozen of non-governmental organisations and 2000 volunteers.
The ceremonial start of signing was performed symbolically, at five minutes to twelve o'clock, at the same time in Banja Luka, Belgrade, Ljubljana, Niš, Pančevo, Podgorica, Priština, Sarajevo, Skopje, Tuzla, Vranj and Zagreb. This action will extend to numerous towns of the region, and the signature can be given also via internet form at Coalition for REKOM website http://support.zarekom.org/intro.php.
The signatures of support will be collected by June 6, when they will be, together with the REKOM's Proposal of Statute submitted to the presidents, governments and parliaments of all states in the region.
