CESI's portal Libela.org which speaks about gender, sex and democracy celebrated two years of its activity in January this year, mostly thanks to devoted work and commitment of our co-workers, volunteers. During the two-year co-operation, most of volunteers expressed their wish and need for an additional education in the field of journalist/research work, and there was also a great interest for work in the field of feminist analysis of presentation of women in the media. Guided by that idea, we invited the well-known female journalists and activists to share their knowledge and experience with the  volunteers. Therefore, on Saturday, February 5th the workshop for Libela's volunteers was held in the premises of Green Action in Zagreb.

The bases of reporting and writing news was presented to female volunteers by Jelena Berković, an ex-journalist and editor of Radio 101, currently working for GONG as a Public relations associate. Maja Hrgović, a journalist from Novi list and the author of story collection "Pobjeđuje onaj kojem je manje stalo" (The winner is the one who cares less)" spoke about her journalist experiences and tasks, as well as of planning and writing reports. Vesna Kesić, a publicist, researcher and journalist spoke with the female volunteers about media and feminism.

"The cognition that journalism is the freedom of expression and not the profession was useful for me, the cognition that I can write, that I have the right to write of anything that "itches me" and that I will be able to publish it somewhere" said at the end of workshop one of Libela's volunteers and by that she described in the best possible way the reason for existence of portal. Libela wants to be a part of open and critical deliberation of society and politics from gender perspective and we herewith invite all interested parties to join Libela team.
