There is no recession with CESI!
We were present at the InMusic festival
Achievements in 2010:
Winning the recession
Although the year 2010 did not seem prospective, we managed to, not only work with the same capacity but also with the same intensity. We have also successfully prepared projects for the upcoming year. With CESI, there is no recession!
Knitting new nets
We always believe that together we are stronger so this year has seen developments of new networks, as well as advancements in existing friendships and new-old associations. Just to mention several of them: We carried out a joint project with several organisations from Croatia (Delfin, CGI, B.a.b.e. and Domine), on the empowerment of committees for gender equality. We joined the project Gender issues in Europe today, which includes eleven organisations from ten countries, and we took part in the project European networks against violence which includes five organisations from four countries. Furthermore, we continued cooperation with organisations worldwide on researching masculinity as well as with the REKOM Initiative. We were participants in about ten international and domestic conferences and gatherings, which resulted in valuable experiences and even more valuable cooperation.
Knowledge without borders
This year CESI has organised a number of seminars, workshops and presentations aimed at improving awareness on gender equality, stereotypes, prejudice, sexuality and prevention of gender-based violence. We know that we were successful when the evaluation paper says: "The seminar was important for me because I have become aware of the gender relationship issues, in a way to which I was indifferent until now."
Objectives for 2011:
Using skills to create new opportunities
In the following year the focus of our activities will continue to be providing support to women in developing skills that contribute to improvements of their social status.
There is no equality without public awareness
Information, education and broad public awareness on issues of gender equality and women's human rights remain to be our continuous activities. Together with several existing projects such as www.libela.org we are looking forward to creating " Women's choice" – a gender equal virtual company.
We will if the MZOŠ won't
Young people continue to be the centre of our attention in 2011. We will continue with education on sexuality in schools and through our web portal www.sezamweb.net , and keep advocating for introduction of sexual education in schools. We plan a number of activities related to the prevention of violence in adolescent relationships, including a presentation of our new education package – result of our participation in an international project.
