Conference "Economic Crisis": Turning Point for Women
CESI representative, Gordana Obradović, attended the international conference titled Economic Crisis - The turning point for women, held on 8th and 9th of July in Amsterdam. The conference was organized by the International Training Center for Women (ITW-MNO) from Netherlands.
Conference objectives were to raise awareness on status of women and the impact of economic crisis on it. The Conference also had the objective to exchange information and make recommendations for activities that will strengthen gender equality as a turning point for economic development in the world.
Topics of the conference included presentations, discussions and workshops. Main topics were: Economic crisis and unemployment; Economic crisis and opportunities from a gender perspective; Management and gender equality in the economy; Micro credits and women entrepreneurship; Public policy, women and media; ICT and creative industries and Strategies for introducing gender perspective in the economy.
Presentations of representatives of the Office for Gender Equality from Thailand on how to collect data and gender statistics were interesting, and a gender-conscious budgets from Scotland conducted by Women's budget initiative as well as Initiatives for reduction of differences in wages between men and women, demonstrated a possible direction for activities relevant for Croatia.
The conference was attended by representatives of institutions, government bodies, NGOs and enterprises from Thailand, Netherlands, Romania, England, Ireland, Japan, Uganda, and Croatia. Participation in the conference by representatives from Croatia was made possible thanks to the support of the National Foundation for Civil Society Development.
