Monitoring and evaluation of the Building Gender Awareness Experimental Programme for High-school students

CESI has completed the implementation of the Building Gender Awareness Experimental Programme for High-school students supported by the European Commission. This pilot programme lasted for 10 class-periods and included both theoretical and practical sections relating to the impact of society and culture in shaping gender roles and identities. The pilot programme was conducted over a period of 2-3 months and facilitated by high-school teachers who completed CESI?s Training of trainers - Building Gender Awereness and had previous experience in conducting this kind of education. The implementation of the programme was monitored and evaluated by Centre for Educational Research and Development (CERD) and CESI. We created a questionnaire in order to examine possible changes in the knowledge, attitudes, skills and behaviour of adolescents. The questionnaire was administered before the programme, as well as six months after its completion. In addition to the 300 students who participated in the pilot, the questionnaire was also administered to a group of 300 students who were not participants. The project's evaluation also included interviews with high-school teachers (trainers and others) and students about conducting an experimental programme within a school environment. Based on the results of the experimental programme, we published a booklet containing a detailed description of the project's implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
