* CESI is the first association in Croatia that started to systematically deal with youth education on human relations between the sexes and the prevention of gender-based violence. The program has been in continuous implementation for 10 years, and its' good practices have been transferred to four states.
* We designed training materials and educational programs for improvement of relations between the sexes/genders, and prevention of violence in teen relationships which are carried out by trained persons in schools. Manuals for working with young people, "Sex and Gender under Magnifying Glass", "Better safe than sorry" and "SEX NA EX" is used by experts in Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Montenegro and Bulgaria.
* Education of the educators plays an important role in spreading the knowledge, skills and value to end users and are thus we enabled around 560 experts in the region to implement programs for preventing violence in relationships and sensitization to gender and sex issues. Besides adults, also peer educators that work in different schools with their peers participated in education.
* 21 600 young people (mostly high school adolescents) are included in the lectures and workshops with topics of violence, human rights, gender equality, sexuality, reproductive health care.
* Programs were implemented in approximately hundred high schools and pupils' dormitories
* Youth programs are customized and include a variety of creative techniques and activities – movies making, making comics, journalistic works, theatrical performances, exhibitions and concerts. Consequently the youth from 60 schools created works on the topic of gender violence, by use of creative techniques and forms of expression and produced 25 films, 16 theatrical plays, 10 of journalistic articles, radio broadcasts and 34 comics.
* In cooperation with the Croatian School Museum in 2005t, we organized the exhibition of students' essays on violence entitled "YOU HAVE A 100% RIGHT TO NONVIOLENCE.
* Program "Building Gender Awareness" was presented in the Human Development Report of UNDP for 2004, which states that this program is a successful example of the work on promotion, implementation of the values of civil society, cultural tolerance and nonviolence, human rights, dialogue, cooperation and trust as well as raising awareness of possibilities for social change.
* As early as 2003 we designed and piloted the 10 - hour experimental program of gender/sexuality education. The study included 18 high-schools and about 600 pupils. The results of the evaluation published in the brochure "An experimental program of gender/sexuality education for high school students" have demonstrated that the implementation of the program mostly affects the changes in knowledge of students, while in their attitudes and behavior only trends of change appeared.
* We have actively participated in the design of program and training in the field of gender equality for those employed in the field of education.
* "SEZAM - Sexual Education for Youth" (www.sezamweb.net) is the first website for young people covering the issues of sexuality and gender equality in educational and informative manner. Young people are provided with complete and reliable information about complex issues related to sexuality, violence in relationships and protection of their rights. Young people can ask questions by e-mail that experts answer. At EMC festival "Media and Health" held under the auspices of the Ministry of Health, SEZAM has won first prize as the best website with educational content.
* The educational and documentary film "Almost Equal," which was filmed in cooperation with the Documentary Film Project FACTUM adolescents speak about relations between men and women. Film is used for educational purposes, and was premiered in early 2004 in Zagreb and also screened at several festivals and local television stations.
* Numerous volunteers have been included in the implementation of our program(s).
* We are recognized by the media as a relevant source of information related to sexuality, violence in adolescent relationships, gender roles and gender equality. All activities due to their originality and creativity draw significant media attention.
